Netgear WAX214 Setup

The Complete Guide to Setup the Netgear WAX214 Access Point

The number of gadgets in our homes that require an internet connection has drastically increased. All areas of the house might not have internet connectivity from a single router. We offer a variety of ways to prevent internet lag in remote areas of the house.

While some users opt for a mesh configuration, others prefer to employ a WiFi extender. In order to optimize network coverage, some users would rather set up a different access point that is connected to the primary router.

More devices can connect to the internet at once with an access point like a Netgear WAX214 setup without sacrificing speed or bandwidth. To have an internet connection without switching between networks, you can set up several access points in your house. To find out more about setting up a Netgear access point, continue reading.

How to Perform Netgear WAX214 Setup?

The purpose of the Netgear AX1800 dual-band access point WAX214 is to function as an independent wireless access point inside the current network. The network connection is the initial stage. These are two ways to accomplish this:

  • With a network connection that is PoE or PoE+
  • Using a Network Connection That Is Not PoE

Both of these approaches will be explained in the next sections. Continue reading and follow the instructions.

WAX214 Setup with PoE or PoE+ Network Connection

A PoE switch in the network can be linked to your access point. Due to its compatibility for Ethernet rates up to 1 Gbps, WAX214 is compatible with any switch that has this capability. Now follow these steps to set up the AX1800:

  • Your network should be linked to the PoE switch. Connect the LAN port of your router to the switch’s RJ-45 port using an Ethernet wire.

Note: If the WAX214 is connected to a Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch, it does not require a power connection.

  • Next, attach one end of an Ethernet wire to the access point’s LAN/PoE port.
  • Attach the PoE port switch to its second end.
  • At this point, the access point’s LEDs will illuminate.

If you choose the PoE network connection, you can move on to the first configuration steps without going through the next section. When utilizing a non-PoE connection, adhere to the guidelines in the following section.

WAX214 Setup With a Non-PoE Network Connection

  • As in the previous approach, connect your non-Power over Ethernet switch to the router.
  • Connect the switch’s port to the access point’s LAN/PoE port using an Ethernet wire.
  • Connect your access point’s power adapter to it, then plug the other end into a wall outlet.
  • It will activate the LED lights.

You must log in to the web user interface in order to proceed with the Netgear WAX214 setup.

How to Log In to WAX214 Using a Web Browser?

  • Turn on your laptop or PC first.
  • Locate the WAX214 management SSID by selecting WiFi.
  • Your access point’s SSID will appear as WAX214XXXXXX-CONFIG-ONLY. XXXXXX represents the MAC address of the access point’s LAN interface.
  • To find the default WiFi password, look at the label on your access point. To connect to the WiFi network, use this default password.
  • Now launch a web browser.
  • Type 192.168.0.100 or aplogin.net into the browser’s URL bar and hit Enter.
  • IP address 192.168.0.100
  • The DayZero login page will be displayed to you. This is just your first time logging in.
  • Give the access point a special local login password. In the APLogin New Password and Confirm New Password areas, enter the password twice.
  • Now, use the SSID field to assign a WiFi name to the main network.
  • To set a WiFi password for the primary network, use the Passphrase field.
  • After making all the necessary configuration changes, click Apply.
  • At this point, WAX214 will reboot, and the login screen will appear.
  • Log in again using the newly allocated local device password.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the remaining configuration settings.

You can now change other options. Update the access point’s firmware to the most recent version if asked.

The Closing Thoughts

You can easily set up the Netgear WAX214 access point in this manner. We advise storing all of the login information in one place. You will need to reset the access point and configure it from scratch if you forget the login password.
